What You Need Before Activation
When you buy a ChatGPT Plus subscription through us, you get access credentials and sometimes a linked payment method. Before you start, make sure you have:
- Email and password for your OpenAI account
- 2FA codes if two-factor authentication is enabled
- Payment method details if included in your package
- A browser with cookies enabled
Check your order confirmation — it lists exactly what comes with your subscription.
Step-by-Step Activation
Log Into Your Account
Go to chat.openai.com and enter your email and password. If 2FA is active, you'll need to enter the code from your authenticator app or email. Keep this handy before you start.
Navigate to Billing Settings
Once logged in, click your profile icon in the bottom left corner. Select "Settings" from the menu, then go to the "Billing overview" tab. This is where you confirm your subscription status and manage payment methods.
Verify Your Subscription Status
In Billing overview, you should see your plan listed as "ChatGPT Plus." If it shows "Free plan," the subscription hasn't activated yet. Refresh the page or log out and back in. Sometimes the system needs a few minutes to sync.
Add or Confirm Payment Method
If a card came with your purchase, add it under "Billing" → "Payment methods." Enter the card details exactly as provided. OpenAI may charge a small verification amount (usually $1–2) that gets refunded. Confirm the charge went through.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Subscription Shows as Inactive
Clear your browser cache and cookies, then log back in. If the problem persists, try a different browser or device. Sometimes the platform takes up to 24 hours to fully activate a new subscription.
Payment Method Rejected
Check that the card details match exactly what was provided. Ensure the billing address is correct. If the card keeps failing, contact support with your order number — we can help verify the payment details or provide alternatives.
Can't Access GPT-4 or Advanced Features
After activation, refresh ChatGPT completely. The model selector should show "GPT-4" and "GPT-4 Turbo" as options. If you only see "GPT-3.5," wait a few minutes and refresh again. Features roll out gradually across accounts.
After Activation: What's Next
Once ChatGPT Plus is active, you can use GPT-4, access advanced features, create custom GPTs, and use services and subscriptions like voice mode and file uploads. Your subscription renews monthly on the same date you activated it.
Check your billing settings monthly to ensure the payment method is still valid. If you're using a card from your purchase package, note its expiration date — you may need to update it before renewal.
