What Activating ChatGPT Plus Actually Means
ChatGPT Plus is a paid OpenAI subscription tied to a specific account, so activating it means one of two things: logging into an account where Plus is already paid, or paying for Plus on your own account with a card. Which path you take depends on what you bought.
- Ready account with Plus — you receive the email and password of an OpenAI account with the subscription already paid. It's not a trial or an activation code: you log in, check the status and start working.
- Plus on your own account — you upgrade yourself and pay with an international Visa or Mastercard.
What You Need Before Activation
You need working login details and, if you pay yourself, a card that accepts online payments. Before you start, make sure you have:
- Email and password for the OpenAI account
- Access to the mailbox — OpenAI may send a login confirmation there
- 2FA codes (authenticator app or backup codes) if two-factor authentication is enabled
- Card details if you're paying for Plus yourself

Activation on OpenAI's side can take a few hours; if Plus still doesn't appear, contact the seller (ready account) or OpenAI support through the form on its site (if you paid yourself).
Payment Method Rejected
Check that the card details match exactly and that the country in the form matches the card's country — OpenAI checks where the payment comes from. Declines are common when a card is used with OpenAI for the first time: retry in a few minutes or use another card.
Can't See Plus Models or Features
Refresh ChatGPT completely or log out and back in. On Plus, the model selector at the top of the chat offers more capable models than the Free plan; if they're missing, wait a few minutes and refresh again. Some features roll out gradually across accounts.
