What You Need Before Linking
Before you connect a fan page to an ad account, make sure you have both ready. The fan page must exist and be active. The ad account — your Business Manager or separate RK — needs to be functional too. If you're using a freshly created account, give it time to warm up first. A page with some history and activity links more smoothly than a brand-new one.
Check that you have admin access to the fan page. If it's not yours originally, confirm the previous owner granted you the right permissions. Same goes for the ad account — you need to be able to manage it, not just view it.

The Linking Process
Open your Business Manager or ad account. Look for the section where you manage pages. Most platforms let you add or connect pages from a dropdown menu or a dedicated button. Select "Add Page" or "Link Page."
You'll see two options: claim a page you own, or request access to an existing one. If the fan page is under your control, choose the ownership option. If it belongs to someone else but they've given you permission, request access instead.
Enter the page URL or search by name. The system will pull up the page and ask you to confirm. Review the details — make sure it's the right page, not a similar one.

Permissions and Roles
Once linked, set the right role for your account. Admin gives full control. Editor lets you manage content and ads but not all settings. Moderator is for community management only. For ad campaigns, you need at least Editor access.
If you're linking multiple accounts to one page, assign roles carefully. Too many admins create confusion; too few means bottlenecks when you need to make changes fast.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
The page won't appear in the list. It might be deactivated, restricted, or under review. Check the page status directly. If it's been flagged for violations, you may need to resolve those first.
Access denied after linking. Wait a few minutes — the system needs time to sync permissions. If it persists, confirm you're using the right account and have the necessary admin rights on the page itself.
The ad account won't accept the page. Some accounts have restrictions on which pages they can run ads for. If the account has a history of policy violations, Facebook may block certain pages from connecting to it. In that case, try a different ad account or resolve the account's standing first.

Best Practices for Multiple Pages
If you run multiple fan pages with the same ad account, organize them clearly in your Business Manager. Use naming conventions so you know which page is which at a glance. Link them all to the same RK to keep budgets and reporting in one place.
When you scale, separate pages by campaign type or geography. This keeps your structure clean and makes troubleshooting easier if one page gets restricted.
