What Wise is and why you need it
Wise is a payment service that lets you hold and transfer money in multiple currencies without the usual bank markups. For ad arbitrage, it's your bridge between ad platforms and your bank account. You link it to Facebook Ads, Google Ads, or other platforms, and payouts land directly there instead of getting stuck in conversion fees or delayed transfers.
The key advantage: Wise accounts give you a real payment method that platforms trust. It's not a virtual card that raises flags—it's a legitimate account with IBAN and routing numbers depending on your currency. Ad platforms see it as stable, which matters when you're scaling spend.
Setting up your Wise account
Start by creating a Wise account if you don't have one. Go to wise.com, sign up with your email, and verify it. You'll need to provide basic personal information and complete identity verification—upload a photo of your passport or ID and a selfie. This takes a few minutes.
Once verified, go to your account settings and create a balance in your primary currency. If you're running ads in USD, hold USD. If you're in Europe or Ukraine, you might hold EUR or UAH depending on where your money comes from. Wise lets you hold multiple currencies at once, so you can keep balances ready.
The critical step: generate your account details. In Wise, find the section for your currency and click "Get account details" or similar. You'll see an IBAN (for Europe) or routing and account number (for USA). Copy these exactly—one digit wrong and your payout fails.
Linking Wise to Facebook Ads
Log into your ad account or Business Manager. Go to Settings → Billing → Payment Methods. Click "Add Payment Method" and select "Bank Transfer" or "Wire Transfer" depending on your region.
Paste your Wise account details into the fields. The platform asks for account holder name, IBAN or routing number, and sometimes a bank code. Use the exact name on your Wise account—if it's "John Smith," don't put "J. Smith" or any variation. Facebook's system matches it character by character.
Facebook will send a small test transaction to verify the account, usually $0.01 or similar. Check your Wise account within 24 hours and confirm the deposit amount in Facebook's verification prompt. Once confirmed, your Wise account is live as a payment method.
Linking Wise to Google Ads
Open Google Ads, go to Tools and Settings → Billing → Payment Methods. Click the plus icon to add a new method. Select "Bank transfer" and choose your country.
Fill in your Wise details the same way: account holder name exactly as it appears, IBAN or account number, and bank details. Google also sends a verification deposit. Wait for it to arrive in Wise, then enter the amount in Google's system to confirm.
Google sometimes takes longer to verify—up to 48 hours. Don't add funds to your Google account until verification is complete, or the payment will fail and you'll need to retry the whole process.
Common mistakes to avoid
Mismatched account names. If your Wise account is under "Anna Kovalenko" but you enter "A. Kovalenko" or "Anna K." in Facebook, verification fails. Copy the exact name from Wise without abbreviations or changes.
Wrong currency. If you link a USD Wise account to a EUR ad account, the transfer will reject. Check which currency your ad account uses and hold that same currency in Wise before linking.
Entering details manually instead of copying. One typo in an IBAN or routing number kills the whole setup. Always copy-paste, never type by hand.
Not waiting for verification. Some people add funds to their ad account before the Wise link is confirmed. The payment bounces, and you lose time. Wait for the green checkmark first.
After linking: what happens next
Once Wise is verified, it becomes your default payout method. When you request a withdrawal from Facebook or Google, the money goes to your Wise account. From there, you can transfer it to your local bank, hold it for the next campaign, or convert it to another currency at Wise's real exchange rate.
Payouts typically take 3–5 business days. Wise itself is instant once the ad platform sends the money, but the ad platform's processing takes time. Check your Wise transaction history to track when money arrives.
If you scale to multiple ad accounts, you can link the same Wise account to all of them. Wise handles high volume without issues, and you see all payouts in one dashboard.
