Why Account Warmup Matters
A fresh Instagram account looks suspicious to the platform. No history, no activity, no followers — it's a red flag. If you load traffic immediately, Instagram throttles reach, shadowbans the account, or disables it outright. Warmup prevents this. You're building a track record of normal behaviour so the platform trusts the account before you push ads through it.
The longer you wait and the more natural the activity, the higher the ceiling on your reach. This is especially critical if you're running affiliate offers or e-commerce — these verticals get scrutinised hard.
How Long to Warm Up
Minimum: 7–14 days of consistent activity before running any traffic. This gives Instagram enough signal that the account isn't a bot.
Better: 20+ sessions spread across 3–4 weeks. Each session should feel like a real person spending time on the app — not robotic, not all at once.
If you're buying aged accounts with existing history, you still need to do 5–7 days of light activity before pushing traffic. The account may have aged well, but you're new to it, and Instagram notices when ownership changes.

What to Do During Warmup
Follow accounts and interact
Follow 10–15 accounts per session. Mix niches: some in your target vertical, some random popular accounts, some local content. Like and comment on posts — 3–5 likes, 1–2 comments per session. Keep comments short and generic: "Great content" or an emoji. Don't spam.
Watch Stories and Reels
Spend time in the feed. Watch Stories from followed accounts. Watch Reels — Instagram's algorithm loves this signal. Spend 2–3 minutes per session just scrolling and watching. This shows natural consumption.
Save and share posts
Save a post or two per session. Share Stories to your own account occasionally. These are normal user actions that build trust.
Visit your profile regularly
Check your own profile, edit bio slightly (add a link, update description), review your follow list. This looks like account maintenance, not bot behaviour.
Technical Setup for Warmup
Use residential or mobile proxy
Don't access the account from a data centre IP. Use mobile proxy (Vodafone, Kyivstar, Lifecell from Ukraine; US carriers) or residential proxy. Instagram flags server IPs fast. Mobile proxy is safer because it mimics real phone behaviour.
Run through an antidetect browser
Use an antidetect to mask your device fingerprint. Set it to mimic a real phone — iOS or Android, realistic device model, real browser. Don't switch fingerprints mid-warmup; keep it consistent.
Space out sessions
Don't run 5 sessions in one day. Spread them across different times. One session in the morning, one in the afternoon, one at night — different days. This mimics real user patterns.
Use different locations if possible
If your proxy rotates IPs, that's fine — real users move between WiFi and mobile networks. But don't jump from Ukraine to USA to Poland in one hour. Keep location changes realistic.

What Not to Do
- Don't post yet. No photos, no videos, no Stories during warmup. Posting signals intent to build an audience, which raises flags on new accounts.
- Don't follow massive accounts only. Mix popular and niche. Following only top celebrities looks artificial.
- Don't use automation tools carelessly. If you use a bot for likes or follows, keep it light — 5–10 actions per session, not 100. Better to do it manually.
- Don't run ads immediately after buying. Even if the account is old, wait the full warmup period. Ownership change + immediate traffic = ban.
- Don't access from multiple devices or IPs simultaneously. One account, one proxy, one antidetect profile. Switching breaks the trust signal.
Signs of Successful Warmup
After 2–3 weeks of consistent activity, you should see:
- No warnings or action blocks from Instagram
- Ability to follow/unfollow without delays
- Comments and likes registering immediately, not throttled
- No "unusual activity" messages
- Profile visible to others without restrictions
If you hit any of these, stop and wait longer. Don't push through warnings.

Ready to Run Traffic
Once warmup is done, your Instagram accounts are primed for campaigns. Fresh accounts with solid warmup hold higher limits and lower ban risk. If you're sourcing accounts for this, look for aged stock with 20+ sessions of prewarmup already logged — it cuts your waiting time and starts you with more trust built in.
